How Yoga heals

Theoretical and practical approach

A seminar aimed at yoga teachers and hands-on therapists. Participants will learn how to use and adapt asanas that help in the treatment of injuries and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Led by Dimitris Kokinakis - Spine Therapist and Christos Fydanis - Yoga teacher and Thai Masseur.

How can yoga help treat chronic injuries and conditions?

Knowledge of symptoms can lead to the correct choice of body positions so that the practitioner can experience immediate relief from symptoms and ultimately lead to treatment of the cause. The methodology we will follow in this seminar is based on the theory of the so-called "triangles of ailments". According to this, the geometry of the body is divided into individual triangles which lead us to the source of the pain (cause) and projected onto the body (effect). For example, a severe childhood injury to my right knee may have resulted in an imbalance of the pelvic triangle, which will lead to an imbalance of the shoulder triangle resulting in my having severe headaches as an adult because of my neck!

In these two days we will learn to identify and assess various common conditions found in practitioners and adapt the physical postures of yoga using props and variation of postures to allow them to experience the beneficial effects of each asana.

The seminar is divided into 3 main parts:

  • Anatomy and Kinesiology

  • Ways of strengthening the muscular system and muscle elasticity

  • Practical exercise of asanas

The main conditions we will analyze are:

 Spine diseases:

- Spondylolysis - Spondylolisthesis
