AGAPE Kirtan Ensemble is a music group formed in Chania, Crete, in Spring 2019. Its members share a common vision for sound meditation as well as sending healing energy and prayer to all beings and to Mother Earth. 'AGAPE' is the greek word for LOVE! May we all feel it deeply, through our chanting meditation!
ABOUT KIRTAN
Kirtan is a form of devotional singing from the heart, based mainly on Sanskrit mantras, as a group chanting, or as a 'call and response' (bhajan) in a cycle. Chanting is accompanied by Indian harmonium, guitar and drumming.
Kirtan is part of Nada Yoga ( the Yoga of sound and freedom through our voice) and they both belong to Bhakti Yoga. Sound is vibrational, it can penetrate and harmonize your very cells in a way that talking or other activities cannot. Moreover, a deep silence can be found beyond sound, a space of connectivity that is truly universal.
Νo need to have any previous experience in Kirtan or mantra in order to participate, nor any music knowledge. Our inner music, rhythm, and voice are awakened and freed up!
